Managing Partner

William Paul Peckham

Since founding Proteus Growth in 2017, William has built over 40 corporate partnerships for portfolio startups and helped raise over $50 million in funding. With 9 years experience in the Chinese market and a background in private equity and venture capital, his broad expertise areas include China go-to-market strategy, financial valuation, fundraising strategy, global payments, macro economic trends in Asia, and cross-cultural communication. 


William started his career in New York and Hong Kong as one of the earliest team members of Tau Investment Management, a George Soros and Jerry Yang-backed startup emerging markets private equity firm focused on South East Asian supply chain investment, where he helped bring the company from fundamental research to successful funding rounds. Previously, he also helped establish and direct the cross-border investment program for the China branch of Plug and Play Tech Center, one of the world's largest tech accelerators by deal number and exit multiples, and early equity holders in Google, Dropbox and PayPal. William was educated at Bard College in New York and the University of Madrid Complutense in Spain, and speaks Mandarin and Spanish. He was nominated as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper for the Beijing Hub in January 2019.

Gao Daqian





Daqian connects exhaustive resources within his FinTech industry network in China, the Middle East, Latin America, and the United States. Da Qian is also Vice President at MANA Group, a major property developer based in Miami, US. He was previously VP at Tiantu Capital and Director of Corporate Accounts at UBS Shanghai. Da Qian was educated at Columbia University in New York.

Shawn Moore

Shawn has built up an intimate network of over 350 high schools, universities, EdTech conglomerates and for-profit education service providers across East Asia and particularly China. He is the Executive Committee and Founding Member of the China Institute of College Admission Counseling, as well as East Asia Chief Representative for Bard College and Director of Bard Early College at Houde Academy in Shenzhen, China. 

Wang Zeyu

Zeyu is a Venture Partner at CHTA Ventures, a travel tech investment firm based in San Francisco and Hong Kong. He combines his tech startup resources within his industry network in the US and Europe with his knowledge of the travel and hospitality industry in Asian markets. Zeyu was previously an associate at Plug and Play Ventures in Silicon Valley. 

Nick H. Laursen

Nick's experience spans TMT and consumer investment at commercial banks, boutique investment firms, bulge bracket investment banks, multi-family offices, and private equity funds. Most recently he was an investment banker at Puji Capital in Shanghai. He holds an MS in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School and Shanghai Advanced Institute for Finance.
